Dear Professional Colleague,
Greetings from the Dehradun Branch of CIRC of ICAI,
It is indeed a great honour and privilege for me to be elected as the Chairman of the Dehradun Branch of CIRC of ICAI for the year 2020-21. The Branch, set up in 1988 is a 32 year young Branch with many firsts to its credit. It was one of the first branches to have acquired a building of its own, to have hosted a website, to have set up library and computer lab for its members and students. Making a modest beginning with about 30 members, today it stands tall with 600 plus members.
I thank all the members of the Branch and of the Executive Committee for giving me the opportunity to serve this august Institution and look forward to their continued support and guidance in our journey of adding more ‘firsts’ to the credit of the Branch.
The incoming Managing Committee has set the following agenda for itself:
ü Facilitating high quality continuing professional education programs for the members on topics that are contemporary and equip them to face the challenges of profession with ease and confidence
ü Reinforcing the Brand ‘CA’ by conducting outreach programs for the benefit of Government Bodies, general public and other stakeholders
ü Upgrading the existing infrastructure of the Branch for a better user experience
ü Liaison with tax authorities for effectively putting forth issues of professional concern
ü Planning and conducting various programs that provide opportunities to members to socialise with each other (The committee is of the view that these are needed on an urgent basis after the e-assessment has taken away the opportunity of meeting at the parking of the Income Tax Office!)
ü Continue to provide various facilities and services to the students aspiring to become Chartered Accountants
The Committee solicits your presence and participation in all the events and activities of the Branch. At the same time it seeks your valuable guidance and inputs on the type of programs that should be organised. ICAI is now conducting various weekend programs and certification courses for its members that the Branch can conduct, subject to required number of registrations. Your committee seeks expression of interest from members for such programs/courses, which can then be suitably planned.
Success is always a team work. On the importance of team work, I am reminded of two lines that I had read in the study material on ‘Organisation and Management’ published by our Institute.
‘What one cannot do, two can do. What one can do, two can do better’.
Looking forward to an eventful year ahead with true spirit of team work, where we all work together to take our profession to greater heights.
Thanks and best regards,
On behalf of the Executive Committee
