Dehradun Branch was established on 30th April 1988 vide notification dated 23rd May 1988 by the ICAI. The first Managing Committee was nominated by the Institute on 13th October 1988.The Branch was inaugurated by CA K.G. Somani, the then president of ICAI on 22th October 1988.
On April 28, 1997, the Branch bought land located right opposite Income Tax Office for construction of the branch building. In the mid of 1999, the branch got its first website and it became perhaps the first one in CIRC to have its own website.
On 6th June 2000, work commenced for construction of the Branch building. The branch was fortunate to have CA. G.Sitharaman, the then President of ICAI perform the ground breaking ceremony.
On March 2, 2001, the Branch got the rare honor of hosting the SAFA conference in Dehradun. All members of Dehradun Branch of CIRC of ICAI opened their hearts to welcome the delegates from SAARC countries to the SAFA conference.
On 16th September 2002, CA. Ashok Chandak, the then President of ICAI along with Past President CA. G.Sitharaman and the incoming President CA. R Bhupathy, inaugurated the Branch building. It was a rare occasion to have hosted the past, present and incoming Presidents in the Branch on the same occasion.
In the same year, the Branch also took the following initiatives: - Monthly newletter was launched for the first time - A library was setup for the students & members - A new website was also developed keeping in view the changing needs of the branch.
In 2003, the Branch conducted the First DISA course and thereafter many ISA batches have been held.
In Dec 2005 the Book Shop of the Branch was inaugurated by CA Amarjeet Chopra.
In 2007, the Branch received the Best Branch Award.
In 2007, the branch commenced IT training on computers for students and the lab was setup with 10 computers which were then upgraded to 20 computers in 2008.
In 2009, the Branch conducted the IFRS course in 2009, and was perhaps became at that time the only Branch to hold the course locally in a city other than a metro.
The Branch is actively hosting Orientation Classes, ITT Classes, GMCS Classes and regular seminars on topics of professional interest.
